At the 30th EU-Russia summit in December 2012, Commission President Barroso announced that 2014 will be the 'EU-Russia Year of Science, Technology and Innovation' underlining the strong Russian participation in the 7th EU Research Framework Programme. This year long series of joint events will celebrate the vibrant science and research cooperation between the EU, its Member States and the Russian Federation.
The opening events will take place in Moscow on 25-27 November 2013. A dedicated official launch event for the 'EU-Russia Year of Science' will take place on 25 November, followed by an international scientific conference on 26 November and the launch of the ERA.Net RUS Plus initiative on 27 November.
The BILAT RUS Advanced project has been entrusted with running the secretariat of the EU Russia Year of Science. A special work package (WP6) has been added to the project's descripton of work, including management and coordination tasks as well as communication and outreach activities for the EU-Russia Year of Science. The latter include the implementation of a web portal dedicated to the Year of Science, which is already under development and will be launched in autumn.
